Prepare the Bread Mixture:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and raisins.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter over medium heat until the butter melts (about 4–7 minutes). Pour the milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for 10 minutes.
Mix and Bake:
After soaking, stir in the sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
Pour the mixture into a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Combine Ingredients:
In a 1-quart saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and heavy whipping cream.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and reaches a full boil (about 5–8 minutes).
