Grandma’s No-Fail Pie Crust Recipe

Instructions:

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, mix together the 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 3 tablespoons of white sugar.
  2. Incorporate Shortening:
    • Add 1 ¾ cups of shortening to the flour mixture. Use a pastry blender or your hands to combine until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • In a separate small bowl, beat 1 egg. Add the beaten egg and ½ cup of water to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Divide and Chill:
    • Divide the dough into 4 portions. This recipe yields enough dough for 4 pie crusts. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
  5. Roll Out the Dough:
    • When ready to use, roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit your pie pan.
  6. Bake Your Pie:
    • Fill your pie crust with your chosen filling and bake according to your pie recipe’s instructions.
